What to Expect at the Dealership
Buying a car from a dealership can be a stressful experience. Here is some information that will help you through the car buying process.
Before you Arrive at the Car Dealership
Securing financing before you visit the dealership puts you in control of the car buying process. With HSBC Auto Finance, once you have applied and have been approved for an auto loan, you will receive a TurboCheck® as early as the next day. With TurboCheck, you have the negotiating power of a cash buyer. Having a TurboCheck in hand and some knowledge about the car buying process can make the car buying experience more enjoyable. You should do some research about the cars you are interested in before you visit the dealership. If you have a car that you are considering trading in at the dealership, be sure have an understanding of the value of the car before you arrive at the dealership.
Arriving at the Car Dealership
Typically, a sales consultant will greet you when you arrive at the dealership. It is the responsibility of the sales consultant to help you find the car that best meets your needs. Your sales consultant will probably offer to show you different cars depending on your requirements. This is your time to learn as much as you can about the different types of vehicle. Ask questions. Look at the cars the sales consultant recommends, and don't worry about asking to see additional cars.
Test Drive the Vehicle
Be sure to test drive vehicles that interest you. Test driving a car will give you a better feel about how the car handles. The sales consultant will usually go with you to help answer questions that may come up along the way.
Negotiating the Deal
Once you have found the car of your dreams, the next step is to negotiate the deal. Some dealerships offer "no hassle - no haggle" pricing. In this type of pricing structure the price listed on the vehicle is the final selling price. But, there are many dealerships that still use a negotiating process to sell the cars.
Be sure to take your time and think through your offer. If you feel rushed or uncomfortable, ask for a break. Remember, with TurboCheck you are in control of the negotiating process. You need to have clear expectations about what you can get for the amount you have budgeted for your car purchase.
Purchasing Car Accessories or Add-ons
You will probably be shown various accessories that you can add to your car, like an upgraded audio system or specialty wheels. You may be offered products like sealants, alarm systems or extended service contracts. Carefully consider these options before you decide to purchase them. If you decide to purchase these additional items, you may be able to include them in your total vehicle price.
The Final Paperwork
When you finally reach an agreement on the terms of your vehicle purchase, it's time for paperwork. This is the time that you can sign the TurboCheck and purchase the car of your dreams. If the F&I Manager is able to find you financing that better meets your needs, you can tear up your TurboCheck with no obligation.
Drive Home in Your New Car
Congratulations on your car purchase! We hope your car buying experience is a pleasant one.
